WHY
The short answer is, because we can. We began by just trying to put boards in local kids hands through a charity. At The Bro Bowl in Tampa, FL (featured on Tony Hawk video games and the longest open free city owned skatepark in America) there were kids who lived nearby. They always wanted to get in on the fun and borrow our boards. Why not get them their own?  That Saturday in 2006 when we first gave them away, something magical happened. We were as stoked as the kids! And we had only cobbled together about 25 boards. Folks, having heard what we were doing, sent us 20 brand new complete skateboards. People wanted to help. They felt good about it! And so did we.
So we really had to continue with this. It had a life of it’s own. Those are a few of the reasons that we do this. And rest assured we lose money every year.

1. It gives kids who could not otherwise afford one, a free skateboard.
2. It provides an athletic outlet for the boundless energy of youth and it’s fun.
3. Skateboarding is a challenging sport, and if you stick with it, you will quickly see that hard work paying off. A life lesson.
4. Perhaps the time spent on the skateboard will keep children from being lured into bad habits and illegal activities.
5. We encourage children of more affluent families to contribute as well. ‘When you buy new parts – why not donate your old ones so other kids can enjoy the sport’? This may teach them the joy of giving, far into the future.
6. Skateboarding and skateboarders need good press. This is as good as it gets.
7. We have fun doing it.
8. Invariably the biggest hugs that Santa gets are from the parents. They are happy for their children and elated that Santa came through for their child. For many, this present is the only one they get.

These reasons and more are why we do this. Please help us or do something like this in your community.
